why taking kids to the DR isn't as crazy as you think
for the last few weeks of june and the first few weeks of july, the MAKARiOS house and staff/interns were blessed to have Rose Usry come to serve us by cooking wonderful meals, baking brownies, leading devo's and just being really awesome. she also brough her 4 kids with her, ranging in age from 3 yrs. to 10 yrs. when we first saw this family on the summer schedule (before we met them), a few of us were a bit skeptical about what it would be like to have 4 kids in the house, in addition to the staff and interns who were already here and the other groups to come. however, we quickly came to truly love every person of this family and were very sad to see them leave last week.
for those who need convincing of why taking kids to the DR isn't such a crazy idea, i have included the follow that Rose sent in an email about some of the things that happened on their trip home.
2. Sara [who is 10 years old] informed me that for her Christmas 2006 present (we had to return her present and haven't gotten her a replacement yet), she would like us to donate money to the food program. This is in lieu of the Nintendo DS, computer, WII, etc. she originally requested. May the Lord continue His work in all of us even after we leave the DR this summer.
