one more week
i only have one week left here in the DR. it's kinda strange, really. although i'm really excited about getting back to texas and eating some good tex mex, it's hard for me to imagine NOT being here. that's the one thing that keeps me from getting all sappy and sentimental and having a weeks worth of tears. for now i am here, so why be sad? but i know that i will truly miss this place and the people i have met throughout the past year - dominican, haitian, and american.during this final week we have a random grouping of people. there is a youth group from sharla's dad's church that will arrive this afternoon to spend some time loving on the kids in our villages. they will be joined by a dominican woman from sharla's church in austin who is coming to help translate.
we also have board member laurie majcher here with us, and she has brought along 3 of her students from hill country christian school in austin. they have been in country for a little over a week now and joined up with us this past friday. they have been super fun, and though i'm inclined to say i'll be sad to see them go, i'll pretty much be leaving with them and will get to see them back in austin just shortly after our departure.
though i'm returning soon, summer interns will still be here through mid-august, and some into september, so you can continue to pray for their endurance as they finish out the summer. please also be praying for the completion of the school house before school is scheduled to start (just after labor day), as well as the selection of the students who will attend the school.
thanks again for all of your prayers and support!
