rebirth
i realize that my last post would, generally, be cause to avoid activities such as caving. it's probably a really good reason to NOT go to airman's cave unless you have a guide and a lot of experience. though it might make some interested in caving, few would start with airman's cave.but rather than taking such an event as a caution, my friends and i took it as a challenge. saturday morning at 11am, 7 of my friends and i headed down to the austin greenbelt in search of an adventure. and that is definitely what we got.
since it had been so long since i was last at airman's cave, and since i am horrible with direction, i didn't remember much about how to find it. so we came to the first cave like formation and a few of us crawled in a ways to see what we would find. i yelled at the other less experienced cavers to join me to get a 'taste' for what our adventure would be like. one of the biggest guys in our group was ahead of me and quickly became certain this was not the cave we were seeking - the passageway was too narrow, there's no way we can get through there. though this cave looked very similar to what i had been in before, my memory was hazy, so i wasn't gonna push it.
so we backed out and kept hiking. for almost 2 hours, we kept hiking. i'm very thankful for our hike, because we were able to see some amazing views, such as this one:

i don't want to encourage any crazy teenagers out there to go do something stupid, so i won't post pictures of the cave entrance. but i will post this, me coming back out of the bithcanal.

and finally, our group: the not so girly girls

the manly men
it was definitely a great adventures, and many bruises are had by all.

Woo hoo! Praise the Lord we found it (twice) and made it through. I love caving adventures...even though my body is asking 'why?'
So many people ask why this is considered fun - especially if I mention the pain. I guess it's one of those things you just have to do for yourself!!
