the "inglish" program

so option #3 looks better every day.

i found out that the makarios "inglish" program is really just a pastor who takes classes and then returns to the village to pass on what he just learned (apparently his classes haven't emphasised the correct spelling of English :-). there are a few other natives, as well as makarios staff, helping him, but otherwise it's pretty lacking. yet because an English program was not an original intent of makarios, it's not a big deal. the adults are just happy they get to learn something.

so my mission, should i choose to accept it, would be to do whatever i can to get something practical up and running. though i've had much coursework in such endeavors, i have no practical experience, so it's a daunting task to say the least. but i would almost have free reign and no pressure. and i would leave with a much better command of Spanish, more teaching experience, program development experience, not to mention the incredible growth that comes from such year.

so if all the logistics work and all the money can be raised, i just might be off to live in the Dominican Republic for a year. please pray with me as i continue to work toward this goal.
