update on evelina

when we were in chichigua yesterday, cristina, camille and i went to evelina's house to see how she was doing. her family was there, even some from out of town, and they brought us in to her room. the first thing she said to us was, "My husband is dead." she said this several times throughout the time we were sitting with her.

we found out that Marco died of a heart attack. it happened suddenly, right on their front porch, with all of the children there.

cristina's husband also died suddenly, of a brain tumor, about 3 years ago, and she was left with 3 small children. although it is sad that this is not an uncommon occurance, it was such a blessing to have cristina with us. she was able to comfort evelina in a way that no one else could have.

we went to chichigua again this afternoon and i checked on evelina again. kiko (francisco) is a good friend of hers, and he was there visiting with her. i asked if there was anything we could do, and after kiko responded that everything had been done (meaning the funeral and burial), evelina's response was simply "estoy sola." "I'm alone."

please continue to pray for evelina as she grieves the loss of her husband and begins supporting a family of 4 boys on her own.
