It is the best of times, it is the worst of times...

...depending on who you ask.

this week is TAKS week. that means every public school student in the state of Texas must take a series of state mandated tests as a form of "accountability" - to make sure public schools are teaching what we're supposed to. for the kids and the teachers who teach the grades/subjects to be tested, it can be a pretty stressful week. and then there's me. because the majority of my students have lived in the US for less than 3 years, they don't have to take it. and because the test takes up so much of the day, i get to show The Chronicles of Narnia during class instead of teaching. what a fun week for me!

in other news: it is now approximately 3 months till my departure for the DR. and i still have much to do. 2 things of special priority with which many of you may be able to assist me are as follows:

ONE: i need someone to take over my lease for the next year. someone who needs furniture would be great, but not a must (i have a twin bed, bookshelf, chest of drawers and a HUGE desk). it's a 2bdrm, 2bath near the arboretum.

TWO: i'm selling my car. it will be available mid/late july (this is negotiable). 2001 toyota highlander LE silver less than 58,000 miles great condition
