an update

i apologize for not posting more lately. i also apologize because i have been intending, for quite a while, to post all of my pictures to a host site for all to see. but since my computer refuses to connect to the wireless network, i have been unable to do these things. so i'll have to resort to the drudgery of dial up when i return to puerto plata. in the meantime, internet time for me is minimal, as i have to borrow a computer that is not mine.

now on with the real news.

IAN - doing GREAT! he's eating like a champ. he got his immunizations about a week ago and weighed in at 13 lbs - a whole pound more than when we got him. he's up to eating some chunky food, such as bread crust, crackers, and hot dog bits. he now enjoys bath time, and we get some very fun giggles out of him when we pour the water over his head. we saw a pediatrician this week and he told us that, as long as we continue with a diet full of protein, vitamins and minerals, and with physical therapy, he can be completely normal (though a bit short due to the malnutrition for those vital early months of his life). there is a haitian couple here who is considering adopting him.

jacob & isaac: back together again and for good - yea! they are both healthy - and fat! the adoption process has begun by a couple in Ohio. the boys will remain in the care of Carrie & Agape, a missionary couple who is partnering with Makarios to do foster care.

for all 3 boys, please pray for their health and development. it is a possibility for all 3 of them to have AIDS, but we are praying this is not the case. they are also all behind developmentally, though Ian the most.

sharla and kate have both returned to the states, though we're not completely alone yet because we're still at the Whites'. we'll be here tentatively through the weekend, and then return to Puerto Plata. we'll then have two weeks to get ready for the school year, which begins the first week of september. jennie, our 3rd American co-worker, will be joining us the last weekend of august.

we (camille and I) are spending this week in Santiago after sending Kate back to NY, and currently awaiting the arrival of a few surgeons. they are coming through Makarios and will be performing surgery for some patients who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

i do have a cell phone number now and it is free for me to receive calls. if you would like that number, let me know. i hope to get skype working soon.

thanks again for all of your prayers and support.
